I’m proud to say that the project I was serving as Project Champion for at Netsquared won a $5000 FACT Social Justice Award!

About FACT: “The French American Charitable Trust (FACT) is committed to addressing the fundamental inequalities and injustices in our society by helping develop and sustain networks of community-based groups in the U.S. and France that educate, organize, and empower people to actively participate in developing public policies that directly affect their lives.

It was a pleasure championing Digital Democracy’s Handheld Human Rights during the conference promoting, tweeting and implementing on the ground actions to get the word out about our project.

There were so many other cool projects too: FrontlineSMS:Medic – SMS for Medical Records and Mobile Lab Diagnostics , SeeClickFix: Report Non-emergency Local Problems and Collaborate to Solve Them, VozMob: Mobile Voices/Voces Moviles, Agricultural Market Information Service (AMIS) Project were some of the ones that stuck out for me.

Big big thank you to Emily and Mark for pulling together such a cool project as well as all the other folks I met there.  I’m really looking forward to seeing how Digital Democracy evolves into the future…
