Does anyone know if CTCNet is out of business? The web site is down (says "server crashed"..but not when, or when it will be back up), and the phone number rings without answer. (202-462-1200)

Felicia,

First, I think we should really be watching and advocating a national agenda on CT, as Obama establishes the first CIO for the nation. During my fellowship with the ZeroDivide Foundation, we developed a statewide Policy road map for California. There as not been any movement on the policy recommendation, primarily the current state of affairs in California, has allowed for discussion on Technology policy issues. However, the document does cover some of the policies that need to be implemented to close the digital divide.
Addressing the question of alignment with Media technology, I think that is a naturally some areas that CT and Media have in common. Particularly, ensuring that Internet remain open and support diversity media technology and of course the deployment of broadband.. However, the areas that are not natural aligned are technology education and affordable access to the Internet. This doesn't mean that we can work together with media technology organizations to the come up with way to align these objective for both movements. In addition I think it is important to demonstrate that reasons for CTC and CT Programs, why not libraries?? as a outlet for access, I heard this statement many times. How about school for the education?? What does the CT provide that these traditional institutes don't have?? These are questions that Community Technology professional need answer.
