Be the Media Project: The Social Media Empowerment Guide for Nonprofits

in Social Media, Work & Career

Yesterday, I began participating in the Be the Media Project: The Social Media Empowerment guide for Nonprofits. It’s a collaborative project curated by N-TEN with wiki curation by Beth Kanter. Here’s the blurb from the site:

The Be The Media Project is a community of people from nonprofits who are interested in learning and teaching about how social media strategies and tools can enable nonprofit organizations to create, compile, and distribute their stories and change the world.

We’re (that sounds so nice to write:) developing a modular curriculum covering various topics on nonprofits’ use of social media. Right now, we’re covering: Why Should Your Nonprofit Embrace Social Media? (Or Not?) It’s pretty fresh.

You can contribute via the wiki. However, if wiki’s aren’t your thing, there are numerous other ways to contribute. You can read more about the project here.

Go ahead, contribute!

  • Morgan,

Thanks so much for this! We've run into a little bump in the road - and are in the process of renaming project- but it has really helped build community believe it or not .
  • Hey Beth,
I did see that. With social media projects, copyright has certainly been a concern - particularly with people I have to answer to or people looking out to protect whatever org/community project I'm collaborating with from legal repercussions.

What ever our name ends up being, it's certainly a project model I'll keep in mind for other endeavors. Go collaboration!
